Tropical fruit

In the past, small apples or crucifers were hung on the tree, but today, the assortment is much richer. Tropical fruits in the form of citrus (oranges, lemons) are especially popular, but carambola is also great.

Cut the selected fruit into 0.1-inch thick slices and dry. You can dry it on heating, in a hot air oven (max. at 120°F), or in a fruit dryer.

Make a hole in the dry slices with an awl or something sharper and thread a string through. The fruit can then be hung on the tree as a decoration.

You can also string the individual slices on a string and make a sizeable hanging decoration resembling a garland.

Intersperse the fruit slices with dry leaves and stick a piece of cinnamon on one of the slices with a glue gun.

Natural Materials Wicker Tree

To make a wicker tree with natural materials, you will need:

  • Wicker (thin and thick)
  • A string of brown color
  • Natural materials – glue, scissors, small pine cones, nuts, whole cinnamon, balls of string, beads, star anise, etc. (depending on what you have), and string lights (6 feet is enough).

To start making the tree, take a thin wicker and braid it into a circle.

Then, six stronger rods are individually inserted into the circle and tied at the top with string to form the tree’s skeleton.

Next, weave individual thin pieces of wicker around the entire skeleton, from the bottom to the tip. Once you’ve braided the tree to the top, tie it carefully with twine to strengthen the wicker and create a point simultaneously.

Before decorating, tuck the string light inside as carefully as possible so that only the cable with the plug remains outside.

Now, you can decorate the tree with natural materials such as pine cones, nuts, whole cinnamon, balls of string, beads, star anise, etc., as you like.

Then, get down to the actual decorating with the help of a glue gun. Glue each cone, nut, cinnamon, etc., to the tree with glue.

Continue like this until it is all decorated, or you run out of natural decorations. When you light up the tree, it will be magical.

Creating Stunning Christmas Decorations from Forest Materials

Pine cones

Cones are a grateful natural material because you can create whatever you want with them. Some leave them purely natural, tie a string, and hang them on a tree. Pine cones that you paint with gold or silver paint also look beautiful.

How about donut dolls? All you have to do is cut circles with a diameter of 2.5-3 inches from the fabric, put glue on the wider end of the cone, and place the circle of fabric; it will be a skirt, stick a bigger bead on it, on which you will paint a face and finally cut pieces of wool, stick it on the bead and you have hair. Finally, you add a string, and the decoration is ready.

Walnut Shells Decorations

A Christmas chain made of walnuts is a traditional decoration, but have you tried using walnut shells?

The walnut is split in half so as not to break the shell; remove the core (use it for baking cookies), put a string between the halves of the shell, and glue them together.

Make a bow on the string, and if you want, you can paint the shells decoratively or stick a piece of Christmas ribbon on the bottom part.

You can easily glue them and paint them gold. They will look amazing on a plate.

Wicker ornaments

Wicker is an excellent material from which you can make a lot of different decorations, and ornaments are one of them. What to prepare?

  • Willow wicker (or birch), wire, gold paint, pine cones and walnut shells, scissors, pliers, a brush, and a glue gun.

Prepare three identical bundles of thin rods, leaving one whole and dividing the other into two parts, so you will have four skinny bundles and one thick one.

Place one half of the bundle on the table, the dense bundle on top of it, and the other half of the second bundle over it.

Fasten them together with wire and move them to form the letter X. Finally, insert the resulting X between the last two halves and wire. You will get a star; cut the ends to a point, and wrap the ends with wire, if possible, irregularly.

Paint the star gold and stick a pine cone on it. You can also gild the pine cone and add a walnut shell, leaving it natural.

You can also weave the finished star and illuminate it with Christmas lights.

Natural Christmas Tree Decorations

Natural decorations can include fruits and vegetables. You can make some cute and unusual decorations from them.

What will you need?

  • Glue gun, vegetables (carrots, parsley, beetroot), knife, cutting board, and apples.

Cut the vegetables into circles and ovals that are about 0.1-0.5 inches thick. Remove the core from the apple and cut it into circles. If you have a dryer, dry the vegetables with the apples. If you don’t have a dryer, let the apples dry in the air to prevent them from breaking. Put the vegetables to dry in a half-open oven at 140-160°F.

The goal is to make Christmas stars. To make them, take a large circle and stick small circles on it with a glue gun.

You can use about six to seven small circles and a beetroot in the center, surrounded by a small carrot or parsley.

You can also use oval slices of vegetables to create stars. Another star can be made using a beetroot in the center, apple crucifers at the points of the star, and a piece of carrot in the middle.

You can create different shapes and patterns according to your preference by sticking small slices of carrot on the tips of the cross.

You can also make apple balls. For this, cut eight slices of apples (crosses) on one side. Roll them into a cone shape to make it look like a miniature rose.

Glue the end and stick all the slices together at the ends with a hot melt gun. This will make a decorative ball you can hang on the tree with a wire hook or a string.

Christmas Cinnamon Candles

Do you know cinnamon candles?

You need three strong candles of different heights, whole cinnamon sticks, natural twine, a Christmas ribbon, a bell, a nutshell, and an old button.

Stick whole cinnamon sticks on each candle, tie the tool with a string, and stick a jingle bell on the first candle.

In addition, you will need a piece of string, which you shape decoratively. Prepare the next candle in the same way, but instead of a string, tie it with a Christmas ribbon, make a bow, and stick a button in the middle of the bow.

There are no limits to imagination.

Cover the last candle, the smallest one, with cinnamon halves, tie it with a string, and stick a walnut shell over it. Then, light all three candles in the middle of the festive board. The smell at dinner will be irresistible.

Colors of Christmas

Are you wondering which colors to choose for your Christmas decorations this year?

Red is a timeless classic that never goes out of style, especially when paired with a green Christmas tree and red ornaments.

Add gold to the mix for a touch of luxury. If you want to capture the essence of the winter season, consider using cool colors like ice white, silver, blue, or light blue-grey. These colors will reflect the beauty of the frozen winter landscape.

Don’t overlook light purple, which is a unique blend of warm red and icy coldness. When combined with white, this light tone can create a beautiful effect of frozen water or snow.

White is also a versatile color that can be used in various decorations, such as ornaments and chains. Combining white with red and gold creates a perfect combination of Christmas’s three most popular colors.
