Don’t stress about it any longer. Find inspiration in our article!

The basic procedure for gift wrapping

If you think buying a Christmas present is the hardest part, then you are wrong; the worst is yet to come.

The most important thing is to know how to properly wrap a gift in a suitable Christmas jacket.

In stores you can find many types of Christmas wrapping paper, whether plain or with different patterns. The papers are simple, matte and glossy.

Of course, you don’t have to use wrapping paper for packaging, but old newspapers, snack bags, colored papers or other materials can also be used.

What will we need:

  • wrapping paper
  • tape
  • the gift

How to do it:

  • Cut the wrapping paper according to the box size so that it does not reach the top on the sides but reaches roughly two-thirds.
  • The length of the wrapping paper should be sufficient so that the individual layers overlap.
  • Cut off the excess paper to make it easy to fold.
  • First, align the gift in the middle of the paper. Then, fold one side, which we fix with tape, and fold the other side and glue it again.
  • At the same time, run the edges with our hands so that they are nicely sharpened.
  • Now, start folding one side down.
  • Pass the bend we create along the sides to sharpen it nicely again.
  • Do the same with the edges of the lower part of the paper, which then attach upwards and secure with a piece of tape.
  • Repeat the same procedure with the other side.

Oddly-shaped gifts wrapping

You know it. You want to wrap a soft teddy bear, a tennis racket, or other nonsense that is not precisely shaped. How should you wrap such gifts?

What will we need:

  • wrapping paper
  • double-sided tape

How to do it:

  • First, measure the wrapping paper so that it is large enough.
  • Stick tapes on one edge and connect it to the other edge of the paper.
  • The joint should now be in the middle.
  • Form the bottom part of the bag.
  • Bend roughly a quarter of the paper from the bottom upwards, which we then unfold and fold in the middle to form a rhombus.
  • Fold the lower edge of the rhombus to the center and do the same with the upper edge.
  • Bend the lower tip about another centimeter and put a tape on it.
  • Connect the lower flap with the upper flap; now you should have the bag’s base.
  • Put the gift inside, fold the upper part twice, and secure it with tape.

  • a piece of satin ribbon

How to do it:

  • Wrap the box in dark-colored paper (brown or black).
  • Cut out a larger gray circle for the mouth and glue it to the lower part of the front side.
  • Then, cut out a smaller oval from black wrapping paper for a nose and stick it to the top of the circle.
  • Then, draw the mouth.
  • Cut out two circles from gray paper for the eyes and two more for the insides of the ears (if you have a punch with a larger hole, use it).
  • Cut out the ears from the colored paper that you chose for wrapping.
  • In the lower parts of the circles, glue smaller gray circles.
  • Bend the ears backward on the lower part so you can glue them.

  • Place the eyes and also glue them.
  • Make a bow from the ribbon and stick it underneath like a bow tie.

What can be useful when wrapping gifts for Christmas?

When wrapping the gift in classic wrapping paper, arm yourself with small decorations, stickers, ribbons and bows. Ornaments for the tree, such as angels or bells, are also not harmful, if possible in a mini version. You can also use glitter spray.

If you choose single-colored paper, you can go all out with decorating the gift, because any decoration will look tasteful and catch the eye at first glance.

It happens that the paper wears off and most of us fix it with scotch tape to hold it in place before wrapping the gift with ribbon. Try using stickers with Christmas motifs instead of scotch tape, it will look much better.

It is good to get name tags or possibly make them at home so that everyone knows who the gift is intended for.

In addition, name tags are more personal and will make the other person very happy.

An alternative to wrapping paper

In case you do not find wrapping paper suitable for some gifts, especially if it is a more expensive or fragile gift, then you can buy different boxes, boxes or gift bags, in many sizes and designs.

You just put the gift in them, add a name tag with a bow and you’re done. The boxes, which are in one color, can be pasted with Christmas stickers or painted with Christmas motifs.

How to become a gift wrapping expert

First of all, be sure to watch the great video below, where you have several ideas and instructions on how to wrap gifts effectively:

Jak zabalit vánoční dárky (CHRISTMAS WRAPPING IDEAS) DiY

We can certainly recommend the following materials and procedures.

Natural paper – it looks simple, elegant and very nice if you wrap gifts wrapped in this way with a white ribbon, which you cover with a sticker with a Christmas motif at the end. Instead of a bow, stick a piece of needle, cone, mistletoe, etc. over the bow .

Newspapers and pages of old books – does it sound crazy to you? Maybe so, but gifts in this outfit are very popular because they are unconventional. Cover them with very expressive ribbons and add a sprig of spruce. Similarly, you can also use old sheet music.

Plain paperstrings, bows, twine, cones, mistletoe, holly and twigs. Arm yourself with this and you will see that even if the gifts are wrapped in plain paper, they will look great thanks to the decoration.

Organza or cloth bags look great, on which you just need to attach a few beads or bows. Scrapbook paper is a great choice for vintage Christmas home decorations. Add a shiny ribbon or lace to the gift. Ideally silver or old pink.

Artificial flowers that can be put not only on the table, but also on the Christmas tree or as gifts are very popular. If you decide to use a flower to decorate the gift, you don’t need a bow.

What can gifts be decorated with?

  • conifer twigs
  • whole spices (cinnamon, star anise, etc.)
  • dried flowers
  • citrus slices
  • donuts
  • nuts (natural or sprayed with gold or silver paint).
  • wide bows

You can also use what you find at home to help wrap gifts. An empty shoe box can be stuck with wrapping paper and used, for example, for a vase that you want to give to someone.

If you plan to give money to someone close to you, then buy a high-quality envelope made of strong paper, preferably gold or red. Decorate the envelope with stars or bells, or a small twig.

When you have an adult child, take advantage of this and ask them to create a stylish and especially original Christmas paper for the little ones by painting their own Christmas motifs on plain paper.

Have you run out of ribbon and have nothing to decorate the rest of your gifts with? You don’t have to run to the store for it right away. Make decorations from wrapping paper, such as small cones that you place next to each other and stick in this case with scotch tape or a bit of glue, fold the paper into fans and attach to the top of the gift.
