The Advent markets in Hallstatt, in a landscape much of which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, offer many experiences. The markets take place on a square called Marktplatz, which is surrounded by picturesque houses and where people from all over the world meet every year. The advantage of this place is that when you spend some time at the markets, and it starts to get cold, you can warm up in one of the many cafes, restaurants, and bars.

When and where does everything take place?

Holy Trinity Statue

In the middle of the square in Hallstatt you can find a massive statue of the Holy Trinity, which witnessed one of the city’s greatest disasters in 1750. It was a fire that turned most of the square into ashes. 

Today, around the statue, you can find many Christmas stalls during the holidays, full of delicacies from local chefs and products from local craftsmen. Interesting events that bring together locals and people from further afield take place here throughout the year.
