DIY New Year’s card with sparklers

What you will need:

• gray cardboard kraft paper
• golden cardboard kraft paper
• silver marker (buy at Creative Supplies)
• self-adhesive stars (buy at creative supplies)
• scissors
• sparklers
• paper glue

Method:

1. Cut out a narrow strip of gray paper.
2. Glue a strip of gold paper to the bottom half.
3. Stick a star on the golden strip and write a wish.
4. Cut a hole above and below the bottom edge of the gold strip with scissors.
5. Thread the sparklers through the opening to stick out at the top and bottom.
6. Stick more stars, and you’re done.

New Year’s chocolate cupcakes

What you will need:

• 1 cup semi-coarse flour
• 1 cup granulated sugar
• 1/2 cup of Dutch cocoa
• 1 teaspoon of baking powder
• 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda
• 1/2 teaspoon of salt
• 1 egg
• 1/2 cup buttermilk
• 1/2 cup vegetable oil or softened butter
• 1 teaspoon of vanilla
• 1/2 cup hot water

Method:

1. Preheat the oven to 356 °F.
2. Mix the loose ingredients in a bowl, i.e., flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
3. In the second bowl, mix the liquid ingredients, i.e., eggs, buttermilk, oil, and vanilla, and beat until foamy.
4. Mix the contents of both bowls to form a smooth dough.
5. Finally, add hot water and mix well.
6. Place the paper cups in the muffin tin and fill them with the batter only ¾ of the way up.
7. Bake for about 20 minutes.
8. Remove from the oven and allow to cool completely.
9. Decorate with sugar icing (like gingerbread) or one of the delicious sweet icings. Combine with cream decoration – choose from our cream recipes.
